Hanka Homestead Finnish Museum

The Hanka Homestead Finnish Museum is located on the original homestead of Herman Hanka, a Finnish immigrant, and his family. The museum depicts the story of how events of the time, specifically the Homestead Act of 1862, impacted the lives of people like the Finnish immigrants, as well as their connection to the copper mines. The homestead offers visitors the change to explore the eight buildings and an additional 40 acres, highlighting the skills and knowledge used to survive in the Upper Peninsula.
